A couple of weeks ago, I read the novel
"supper club" by Lara Williams, seeing myself in the "woman tired of being told to eat, speak, and be less" that she was describing.
Inspired by her pages, I conceptualised and hosted this supper club as a living manifesto, as a resounding scream "I am here, we are here, and we eat as much as we want" - together with 13 strangers who felt the same tiredness and the same urge to scream it to the sea.
Lara Williams says that "it seems so crass, so unacceptable, to be a woman who likes and is interested in food, and who dares to look like she does", and this supper was an ode to just that: eating, feasting - taking up space with our bodies, our hunger and our voices.
